This Has To Happen

Before it gets yanked again, check out Jesse Pinkman dropping by Dunder Mifflin. Love it.

Lovely Casting News of the Week

One of the best things about the season finale of The Office was Amy Ryan. She's always so great dramatically, and I had no idea she could do comedy as well. The awkwardness between her character and Michael Scott was priceless. Actually, Michael's awkward with anyone. Anyway, she'll be back! I will miss Toby though - is he really gone for good?
The Wire star Amy Ryan will get a chance to flex her comedic muscles a bit more next season as she joins The Office for multiple episodes.

Ryan is set to appear in at least five segs in the fall, reprising her role as human resources rep Holly Flax. Ryan's character first showed up in The Office's season finale as a potential love interest for Michael Scott (Steve Carell).

In the season-four ender, "Goodbye, Toby," Ryan's character replaced long-suffering HR staffer Toby Flenderson, played by Paul Lieberstein.

The Dwight Knight

This is a pretty brilliant mash-up of The Dark Knight audio and The Office video. I loves it!

The Office

I had a dream last night that I was on The Office, so I'm taking that as a sign that I should have blogged about it. I was just a random character, but I had one funny line and at the end Ryan was interested in me. Which... eeewww. Ryan is a total prick now. Jim: "I liked you better when you were the temp."

Anyway, it's amazing how seriously depressing this show can be when Michael Scott isn't his usual horrid self. Dwight really does complete him. Andy is just like Michael, yet somehow really grating and annoying, not endearing and embarrassing. Michael was barely tolerating Andy - I just wanted him to punch him in the face! Dwight at Staples was pretty pathetic. I was so happy when Michael and Dwight were reunited. Oh yeah, and Andy punched a hole in the wall because his constantly-ringing cell phone was hidden in the ceiling, courtesy of Jim and Pam. Pretty brilliant prank.

Quotes of the Night

That was probably the funniest episode of My Name is Earl yet.

Earl, after Joy's bleep-laden diatribe of sexual things she was going to do to him: "You had me at 'balls'."

Randy's renditions of the Cops theme song: "Bad boys, bad boys, who you gonna be?" "...Who you gonna call?"

The Office was another cringefest.

Michael to Toby: "You skeevy little perv."

Dwight's awkward attempt to console a crying Pam: "You're PMS-ing pretty bad, huh?"

And on 30 Rock:
Alec Baldwin (because that's who he is to me, not a character): "My mother tried to send me to Vietnam to make a man out of me. I was 12."

The Office

I love a good Office Christmas. Probably the greatest thing I've ever seen is Michael marking his new Japanese "girlfriend" on the arm so that he can tell the difference between her and her Japanese friend. Only Michael Scott can have a rebound relationship that lasts 3 hours. Who did he invite to Jamaica over the phone? My guess is Jan or his mother.

Also great: Dwight singing Styx. You know they're the greatest arena rock band of the '80's, right?

The Office Cringe-o-Meter = 10

Tons of cringe humor last night. Creed staring at the woman using the breastpump (at her desk!) is probably number 1. Ed Helms' character bonding with Michael. Michael and Dwight trying to lift up the big fat dude. Michael making a slavery joke to the black guy. Toby's attempted fist bump. Kelly was hysterical - catching Jim up on "her life" - specifically, the births of Shiloh and Suri. Jim staring at the top of Dwight's head while they talked - "Meet my eyeline, Jim!" HA! Did I miss anything?

It was great last night and I definitely have to watch it again. Sometimes it's so cringe-inducing I have to watch through my fingers.

The Office

The Office was great last night! Having Toby interested in Pam is a stroke of comedic genius. His face literally turned red when he was stammering to her - how did the actor do that? Seeing Kelly and Ryan on a date was great too. It was just how I thought it'd be - she's feeding him french fries and laying on his shoulder while he looks uncomfortable. I love how even though Michael is psychotic I always end up feeling bad for him. It was a sad sight seeing him patrolling the hallway outside of his hotel room in his white, freshly dry-cleaned "fun jeans".

I Heart The Office

The Office starts back up tonight! Yay! I spent a lot of time Sunday with the Dunder Mifflin gang, watching Season 2 DVDs. There are so many deleted scenes - it's like watching twice the episodes. I love them all, but the episode that is near and dear to my heart is the one where someone craps in Michael's office. Because that actually happened where I used to work. Someone crapped in the office hallway and of course I had to be the one who found it. Those were the good old days. I miss working in a real office. There aren't enough people in my current one for there to be crazy people who take craps by the filing cabinets. You need at least 10 people for that to happen.

Anyway, tonight Michael outs Oscar? Let the hilarity begin! I heart Jim. Here's a great Jim and Dwight scene.
