Because I like to spend the next afternoon hunting down the clues on the internet. In other words, I let the real geeks do the heavy lifting.
Here's a freeze-frame of "Jacob" - the guy in the rocking chair in that cabin in the middle of nowhere. That's definitely Jack's dad, Christian. (Further proof: the actor's name was listed in the opening credits as a guest star.)
Like most things on Lost, I don't know what this means. It's just kinda cool.
